Electra Home Health

What is home health?

Home health is professional, caring medical services at home by highly skilled nurses and therapists. Our home health staff provides a full range of health care services to the patient and their family in familiar and comforting home surroundings. Home health care promotes family integrity and the independence of the individual in need of care. By relieving the stresses associated with caring for a loved one at home, home health contributes to a better overall quality of life. Our professional staff will work with your physician to develop a plan of care that will best help you achieve maximum recovery in the comfort of your home.

When is home health appropriate?

Home care is best suited for individuals who do not need the 24-hour, around-the-clock supervision and monitoring that only hospitals or nursing facilities can provide. It is suited for post-surgical care, wound care, physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy.

Electra Home Health provides extensive patient teaching in the following areas:

  • Medications
  • Diet
  • Disease management
  • Safety teaching
  • Medication administration (infections, intravenous, feeding tubes)
  • Diabetic teaching and training
  • Urinary device management
How is home health paid for?

A variety of sources can pay for our services. The significant home health payment sources are Medicare, Medicaid, private health insurance, workers’ compensation, and HMOs. Both private and public insurance programs cover most home health costs. Feel free to call us if you have questions about home care payment coverage.
